Two new council members for Food From Britain

Two new members have been appointed to the council of Food from Britain (FFB) Defra Secretary of Stateby David Miliband and the other three United Kingdom Agriculture Ministers.

Two new members have been appointed to the council of Food from Britain (FFB) by Defra Secretary of State David Miliband and the other three United Kingdom Agriculture Ministers.

The appointments are of Julian Wild and Ian Martin. Milliband said: "Food from Britain has an important role in supporting the development of UK food and drink companies. The considerable experience and skills that Julian and Ian bring to the Council will be of great value in delivering this role."

Lady Jay (Sylvia) CBE, chairman of FFB added: "We are delighted that Ian Martin and Julian Wild will be joining our council. Their extensive experience and knowledge of the food industry, together with their strong corporate governance skills, will be a fantastic asset for Food from Britain."

Ian Martin is the chairman of Honeytop Speciality Foods, a medium-sized bakery business which exports to countries throughout Europe. With a professional background as a Chartered Accountant, Maritn was previously vice-president and chief purchasing officer for McDonald's Restaurants, where he had extensive involvement with the farming community and food manufacturers.

Wild is Food Group director of Rollits, a North of England law firm. He is a solicitor and has worked in the food sector for 27 years. Before joining Rollits, Wild was on the Operating Board of Northern Foods plc, where he was corporate development director and group company secretary Earlier in his career at Northern Foods, Wild was managing director of Dale Farm Foods and Park Cake Bakeries.
