Restrictions lifted on poultry farm

Restrictions imposed after an outbreak of Newcastle Disease in Scotland in October have been lifted.

A farm in East Lothian was forced to cull 14,000 partridges, and restrictions were imposed on the movement of poultry, poultry products and litter.

The lifting of the restrictions on 18 Novemeber is in line with EU legislation, said a spokesperson for the Scottish Executive.

"There have been no further findings of disease in the area in the last 30 days and clinical inspections of commercial flocks in the area have been completed.

"Whilst there have been no further findings of disease, poultry-keepers are reminded of the importance of vigilance for signs of disease and the importance of reporting any suspicion to the State Veterinary Service," the spokesperson said.
