Scots join forces for quality
Two Scottish companies have joined forces this week to bring premium quality ingredients to a wider audience.
Braehead Foods, Scotland's leading game and specialist food supplier, has struck a strategic agreement with Macdonald Hotels to supply the group's Scottish properties, with a view to expanding into all 48 UK hotels.
Braehead Foods, which supplies pubs, delicatessens and Michelin Star restaurants across the UK, will also be working with Alan Swinson, Group Head of Catering for Macdonald Hotels, to promote game and other British produce through the group's restaurants.
Alan Swinson, who is responsible for maintaining high standards throughout the hotels' restaurants, many of which have won awards in their own right, said: "Fresh, quality produce with strong provenance is central to our ethos, and we are delighted to be working with Braehead Foods.
"In the past we have had difficulty guaranteeing quality and consistency with game but now I can be confident working with Braehead Foods, as they are a company renowned for sourcing the very best and delivering it."
As well as supplying the restaurants, Braehead Foods will be working with Macdonald Hotels to promote quality British produce.
In June, Braehead Foods will be joining Macdonald Hotels at The Royal Highland Show to promote game, and in September, a campaign is planned throughout the Macdonald group to promote partridge, with tasting notes on the menu and recipes for guests to take away.
Managing Director of Braehead Foods, Craig Stevenson, said: "We are delighted to have secured this opportunity to work closely with the Macdonald Hotel group to promote the UK's best ingredients to both the chefs and the diners."
