Little Chef up for sale?

Former road-side favourite Little Chef is expected to make an announcement regarding its future, reports claimed.

The foodservice operator, which is thought to be losing up to £3m a year, is in takeover talks with the Financial Times tipping Israeli property firm Arazim and private equity company RCaptial to take on the chain and close 40 of its 234 restaurants.

The companay, which employs 4,000 staff and has more than 20m customers a year, was bought last year for £52m by its chief executive Simon Heath and the People's Restaurant Group.
