Norfolk show case for local food
Norfolk's food and drink producers are hoping to catch the attention of the buyers at a special trade event next month.
A wide range of local produce will be on display at Lynford Hall, near Thetford, on Wednesday, 4 October, reflecting Norfolk's varied landscape and coast.
The Eat and Drink Norfolk event will feature products ranging from bacon, ham and rare breed meats to honey, preserves and ice cream, alongside micro-brewery produced beer and traditional Norfolk cider.
Julie West, deputy chief executive of Tastes of Anglia, said: "There is now a real opportunity for Norfolk's shops, restaurants, pubs and cafés to meet growing demand by sourcing a wide range of genuinely local food, clearly and honestly labelled and promoted. For producers, local markets offer enormous potential for increased sales and a closer relationship with consumers."
Nick Saltmarsh, a project manager at East Anglia Food Link, said: "Connecting food outlets with local producers can help provide fresh, tasty and trustworthy food. Genuinely local food sold locally is good for producers, retailers, caterers, the public and the environment."
