Milan's media get the Welsh treatment
Italian double Michelin-star chef Carlo Cracco is promoting the benefits of Welsh Lamb to a group of top Italian food journalists, at his Milanese restaurant this week.
Hybu Cig Cymru/Meat Promotion Wales (HCC) says Cracco is such a huge fan of PGI Welsh Lamb that he volunteered to travel to Builth Wells earlier this year to perform a cooking masterclass with prime Welsh Lamb at the Royal Welsh Show. Cracco is husing this week's event to demonmstrate to the Italian food industry's top writers why Welsh Lamb is a world-renowned product.
All the Italian national daily newspapers will be represented, along with heavyweight trade contributors and some key lifestyle magazine writers. Members of the Italian rugby team, which HCC sponsors, will also be present.
PGI Welsh Lamb will feature heavily and dishes include; Small Balls of Welsh Lamb with Potimaron - a type of pumpkin; Stuffed Welsh Lamb Chops; Rolls of Welsh Lamb with Fresh Vegetables and Lasagne with Lamb and Cabbage.
"Having someone with such a colossal reputation in the culinary world as Cracco backing our quality products in Italy- such a very discerning food community- is a fantastic boost to our export drive," said HCC chief executive Gwyn Howells.
"He has attracted a group of very influential writers who will be important in spreading the world of how good Welsh Lamb really is."
Carlo's highly successful two Michelin star restaurant specialises in traditional Milanese cuisine made from the best products in the world- and Welsh Lamb has become an essential ingredient.
