Italian job for Welsh Lamb

A top Italian Michelin-star chef has been recruited by HCC - Meat Promotion Wales to help launch a CD-Rom of Welsh Lamb recipes.

A top Italian Michelin-star chef has been recruited by HCC - Meat Promotion Wales to help launch a CD-Rom of Welsh lamb recipes.

Carlo Cracco will launch the CD from HCC's stand at an Italian trade fair next week.

Cracco, whose successful two Michelin star restaurant Cracco-Peck in Milan, specialises in traditional Milanese cuisine made from the best products in the world and Welsh Lamb has become an essential ingredient, he said.

Welsh Lamb's Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) status and unique taste caught his attention and has since become a regular dish in his restaurant.

Now, he has compiled a variety of Milanese recipes, featuring Welsh Lamb on one CD and it will be officially launched at HCC's stand at Tutto Food Trade Fair in Milan on Monday, 7 May 2007.

Gwyn Howells, HCC chief executive said: "Welsh Lamb has gone from strength to strength in the Italian market over the last 12 months and having the support of such a renowned chef as Carlo Cracco is very encouraging.

He added: "Attending trade fairs such as Tutto Food is an essential element in our export drive for both Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef as they can be used as a platform to meet influential buyers, so that we can capitalise on past successes and open up new markets."

Several Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef exporters from Wales have been invited by HCC to attend Tutto Food, which is held between 05-08 May 2007.
