MLC Conference To Examine Industry's Future
Experts in a wide range of farming topics will be making their predictions for the future of Britain's livestock industry at the annual Meat and Livestock Commission (MLC) Outlook conference.
Entitled "Understanding a Changing World", the 2007 Conference will be held on Tuesday January 30 at 1 Great George Street, London.
Speakers at the event will cover a wide range of topics including the thoughts and buying patterns of consumers, the implications of climate change for the industry and new regulations and policies expected from Brussels.
In the afternoon the conference will split into two parallel sessions looking at the medium term outlook for beef and sheep in one session and for pigs and pig meat in the other. These will be presided over by, respectively, chairman of the English Beef and Lamb Executive (EBLEX), John Cross and chairman of the British Pig Executive (BPEX), Stewart Houston.
The day's speakers will include Matt Dempsey from the Irish Farmers Journal, Paul Flatters of Future Foundation, Dr David Viner of the University of East Anglia's Climatic Research Unit, Despina Spanou and John Bensted-Smith from the European Commission, Ian Kenny from NatWest Bank and Richard Parsons from Defra.
