Producer conference designed to make a difference

 - Published:  12 December, 2006

A hands-on experience for beef and sheep producers is being offered by the English Beef and Lamb Executive at its first annual national producer conference on 13 February.

The conference, at Askham Bryan College, York, has the theme 'Take home an idea to make a real difference on farm'. It includes an exciting line up of industry speakers, followed by afternoon 'taster' sessions on cattle and sheep selection, farm costings and a butchery demonstration.

Eblex chairman, John Cross, said: "The conference is deliberately aimed at the commercial beef and sheep producer. We want to encourage farmers to take a closer look at topics such as exports, livestock selection, farm costings and brand development and consider the ways these can impact on the farm business".

Speakers include: Richard Phelps, managing director, Southern Counties Fresh Foods Ltd; Geoff Hall, regional agricultural manager, Lloyds TSB business banking; Peter Hardwick, international manager, Meat and Livestock Commission and Matt Wyatt, head of planning, Leo Burnett, London.

The conference is free to all English beef and sheep producers and is supported by Yorkshire Forward. Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
