Call for pig sector's heroes

 - Published:  14 April, 2006

THE BRITISH Pig industry is inviting nominations for this year's David Black Award, which recognises an individual's sustained contribution to the industry. Anyone from the industry is eligible - even journalists.

The final selection will be made by a panel of independent judges chaired by the chief executive of the British Pig Executive, Mick Sloyan. Sloyan said: "A look back at the previous winners is a roll call of the great and the good from the industry. But for every one who is honoured in this way, there must be 100 who keep working away for the benefit of the industry, but do not receive the recognition they deserve. We want to hear about them."

The award will be presented at an industry breakfast held in London in the autumn.

Nomination forms are available at www.bpex.org.uk or 01908 844368. The closing date for nominations is Friday, 1 September 2006.
