? CHILLED FOOD, COLOGNE
THE GROWING trend to-wards chilled and convenience foods will be the highlight of the second Chilled Food fair (11-12 September) in Cologne. The combined congress and trade fair will cover the latest issues, prod-ucts and marketing approaches for the chilled food segment. Organised by Koelnmesse, exhibiting companies will have a chance to showcase their prod-ucts and services to trade visi-tors. Exhibitors that register be-fore February 28 are eligible for an early-booker discount.The 2006 Chilled Food Awards will be presented at the congress/trade fair to compa-nies that have made outstanding achievements. The awards were inaugurated at Chilled Food 2004 and presented at Anuga 2005.
? ANNUAL DAIRY FARMERS' CONFERENCE
PROFESSOR JOHN Web-ster, Emeritus Professor of Ani-mal Husbandry at the University of Bristol will deliver the Geof-frey Alderman Memorial Lec-ture at the Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers' annual conference. Entitled 'Cows for All Seasons', the lecture will be staged at Cheltenham (March 7 and 8) and is being sponsored by the British Institute of Agri-cultural Consultants.RABDF's chief executive, Nick Everington, said: "We're pleased to once again host the Geoffrey Alderman Memo-rial Lecture which honours a ruminant nutrition scientist who made a signi? cant impact on the industry, in particular, to tech-nology transfer on farm."

Shel? ife 2006, which will take place (May 8-9) at the L-shed, Prince's Wharf in Bristol, will incorporate tasting sessions, cookery demonstrations and en-tertainment. Retailers will have the chance to taste and discuss new and traditional ? ne food products, from a variety of spe-cialist small producers.The event has support from ? ne food wholesalers Deli28. Speaking for Deli28, Chris Hep-den said: "We're delighted to be involved with this new food fair - we feel it's really important for retailers to know where the food they sell actually comes from.
