It appears the cutting slicing and dicing equipment manufacturing industry is emulating the car industry and becoming leaner and meaner as rationalisation and mergers become regular occurrences. The most recent has been the takeover of Scanvaegt and AEW Delford by Marel. Hordur Arnarson, CEO of Marel, believes the new acquisitions will help the enlarged group improve its market offerings through sharing and transfer of technology. "The acquisitions will strengthen both companies' R&D activities by sharing and transfer of know how between product categories."
