Measuring up with the VL

 - Published:  27 October, 2006

The VL can measure temperatures from -40ºC to 700ºC with a response time of just 180ms.

The new VL miniature infra red temperature sensor from Calex Electronics is designed to offer maximum flexibility in the smallest possible package, according to its manufacturers.

The sensor has a compact sensing head for use in confined spaces, and a separate electronics unit with a backlit LCD display.

The VL can measure temperatures from -40ºC to 700ºC with a response time of just 180ms.

Under the lid of the electronics enclosure are controls to set the temperature range and response time. From here analogue outputs can be configured and maximum/minimum readings switched on or off.

The compact sensing head of the VL is made of stainless steel and can operate in ambient temperatures up to 85ºC without cooling, or 200ºC with air-cooling and purging accessories.
