Ansell Healthcare has issued guidelines for the use of protective gloves and equipment when handling birds or bird products that have the potential to be contaminated with avian influenza.

The company's recommendations for gloves, aprons, sleeves and shoe covers are available online and are backed by a technical help desk at the company which provides email and telephone support on the suitability and performance of various products..

The guidelines are offered in three main areas: the removal of animal corpses; disinfection and dissection; and lab applications and preventive vaccination.

The company provides barrier protection to the industrial sector, and has posted its advice on www.anselleurope.com.
