A security device

that protects distribution vehicles from thieves has proved successful with one company, which just three months ago, had to contend with break-ins as vehicles waited at traffic lights.

United Co-operatives, which distributes food to convenience stores and small supermarkets, had Secureloc, a device from Secureseal, fitted to a fleet of 177 vehicles. Since then, there have been no thefts from the vehicles.

Secureloc is a mechanical device that uses a random security number generator. Fitted to the rigids and trailers, the seal numbers are checked and recorded on all departures and arrivals, providing random number security during the delivery cycle. This protects drivers and ensures goods are loaded and delivered safely, helping to avoid replenishment problems at stores.
