Mortimer points to a robotic future

 - Published:  05 January, 2006

Peter Mortimer, Herbert Industrial's sales director, gave a keynote address to delegates at the International Meat Automation Conference (IMAC) about the future of robotics and automation in meat processing.

At the conference, held in November in southern Spain, Mortimer spoke about the company's experience of designing and installing complex robotic

and automatic solutions to

meet the demands of food processors and their customers, the multiple retailers.

He noted how the company uses Fanuc M6i robots to overcome the limitations of traditional food-processing equipment, which supports only a small number of pack sizes and packing configurations.

With the robots, the user can modify existing programmes or create new ones, without the need for highly trained technicians.
