Be in it to win it

Entries are starting to flood in for the Meat Trades Journal's Butcher's Shop of the Year Awards.

But it is still not too late to get your entry in.

If you run a potential award-winning business, the Butcher's Shop of the Year Awards is your chance to gain some recognition and, more importantly, promote your business to your customers.

Quality Meat Scotland is now backing the awards, under the banner of the Scotch Butchers Club joining fellow sponsors, EBLEX, BPEX, Danish Bacon and Meat Council, Weddel Swift, Harmony Farm, Lucas Ingredients and HCC - Meat Promotion Wales.

June Lomax, butcher development manager with QMS, said: "I am delighted that The Scotch Butchers Club is supporting the Butcher's Shop of the Year Awards 2006. This initiative encourages shop standards to rise all round the country, and I hope many shops will enter. I look forward to congratulating the Scottish winner."

An overall winner will be decided on 7 November at Claridges, London, from seven categories (see box below) and named the UK's Butcher's Shop of the Year 2006.

To enter the awards, contact Stephanie Smallwood on
