Father and son butchers Cyril and Graham Starkey have been crowned regional sausage sandwich kings, following the Great Yorkshire Show.

The pair, who run C & G Starkey in Sherburn, near Leeds, fought off competition from 16 other producers to claim the fiercely-contested title, which was awarded by the north-east NFU, following a mystery-shopper-style event to find the ultimate sandwich sausage.

Graham, who collected the handcrafted wrought-iron frying pan trophy said: "We are a traditional family butchers, with three generations of the family currently working in the shop."
