Butcher wins new van
Terry Snow, owner of The Meat Shop Wolverhampton, has won a competition run by EBLEX and his meat supplier Weddel Swift.
Only retailers that serve lamb that meets the standards of EBLEX's Quality Standard Mark scheme and that are customers of Weddel Smith were eligible to enter.
Terry, who was about to replace his current van, drove away with the prize of a new Quality Standard Mark branded refrigerated van.
Terry, said: "This is a fantastic prize. We are keen supporters of English beef and lamb and the Quality Standard Mark. We are traditional butchers who believe in the welfare and quality of the animals and the meat we prepare. This van means we can continue to ensure that the quality of the product we deliver to our customers is maintained throughout our delivery service."
Mike Whitmore, of EBLEX, said: "The Quality Standard Mark for beef and lamb provides customers with high levels of assurance about the meat they buy. We are pleased to be able to work with independent butchers and retailers such as Mr Snow."
The purpose of the competition from EBLEX and Weddel Swift, one of its Quality Standard Scheme member wholesalers, was to promote Quality Standard beef and lamb to the independent butchery sector.
