Winner takes all
Butchers from across the UK will be cooking up a storm in London next week as they bid to take home the title of best sausage in the UK.
MTJ's Champion of Champions event, which takes place in Butchers' Hall on Monday, 15 October, sees some of the UK's best sausages competing to be declared the overall champion.
Up to 25 butchers are taking part in the presitigious event, which is also marks the start of British Sausage Week, which runs until 21 October, and is celebrating its 10th anniversary.
Sponsors of the event include Naturin Ltd/Viscofan, Lucas Ingredients and BPEX.
The competition was open to anyone in the trade who has been declared a champion in one of the UK's regional sausage evaluations and competitions.
Sausage makers were eligible to enter if they have won a regional competition anytime between 1 April, 2006, and 30 June, 2007.
This year's champion will be announced on stage at Butchers' Hall by cricketing legend Phil Tufnell, who is supporting British Sausage Week. Finalists will be presented with special certificates on the day.
