A Moroccan Lamb ready meal

recipe won a south-east butcher top honours in BPEX's latest Regional Roadshow and Product Evaluation Event.

Terry Gaterell, owner of Gaterells of Felpham (pictured) beat 27 butchers with around 200 products, at the event which took place at the South of England Showground, Ardingly, and walked away with the top honour of Overall Champion

Terry said: "I'm over the moon. I nearly didn't make it to the roadshow as we're just about to reopen the shop after a refit. Luckily, my team persuaded me to go and I'm glad they did. The result is even more pleasing as this is the first competition I've entered.

"The Moroccan Lamb is a fairly good seller at the moment. Hopefully, by picking up this award, it will become one of my more popular products."

BPEX butchery and product development manager, Keith Fisher, said: "We are always surprised by both the quantity and quality of products entered into the evaluation events and this occasion is no different."

Fisher also made a special mention to the champion of the 'Young Sausage Maker' category, Gavin Hawkin of Martyn James, who he said "has shown that there is great talent and skill in the younger generation of the industry."
