Regional brand launched for caterers

Caterers in the south of England can now order quality assured, Southern Pride premium beef, lamb and pork following the recent launch of a new brand from Portsmouth based Solent Butchers.

Hand selected from suckler herds reared on farms in the South of England that use traditional farming and finishing methods, both the beef and lamb brands are produced to a specification that complies with the English Beef and Lamb Executive's (EBLEX) Quality Standard scheme.

The beef is allowed to mature for 14 days on the bone for extra flavour and tenderness.

Southern Pride pork and Southern Pride premium pork sausages are sourced exclusively from farms in South of England that have been independently audited to the British Quality Assured Pigs (BQAP) standard.

Managing director for Solent Butchers Limited, Mark Cristofoli, said: "Our Southern Pride beef, lamb and pork brands are assured at every step of the supply chain.

"Working closely with Gearings West Country Meats, we select the finest animals from farms in the South of England, ensuring that the animals are stress-free at the time of slaughter.

"The meat is then trimmed and cut into consistent portion-controlled products by our expert team of butchers.

"With provenance becoming increasingly important to customers, we felt it important to develop a premium quality regional brand that caterers can put on the menu and serve with pride.

"We feel confident that we have achieved that with our Southern Pride beef, lamb and pork."
