Simon Howie awarded Tesco contract

 - Published:  24 January, 2007

Scottish butcher Simon Howie has won a contract to supply a selection of products to Tesco counters in 65 stores in Scotland.

The new lines include, Beef Olives, Beef Olives with haggis, Chicken Parcels and Beef Parcels, appealing specifically to the tastes of the Scottish consumer.

The launch was celebrated in the Perth store on Crieff Road, where customers were given the opportunity to try cooked samples of beef olives. Simon said: "Feedback from the customers after tasting was extremely positive and the demand on all four products has so far been very high."

Simon said he was delighted with the Tesco relationship and that business was ramping up nicely. "It took us a lot of time in product development as they wanted something to add to the category rather than cannibalise other ranges." The new range will be badged Simon Howie Butcher's.
