Direct Meats in Kone Vale buy
Specialist catering butcher Direct Meats has announced its acquisition of Kone Vale Produce of Suffolk, which produces high-quality portioned poultry products.
Kone Vale's EU-registered plant, based at Middleton, near Sudbury, has been owned by the Goodwin family for many years and has been reluctantly sold by Graham Goodwin, following a long spell of ill health.
Direct Meats will retain Kone Vale's workforce and will continue to sell chicken under the Kone Vale name.
John Kent, director of Direct Meats, said: "Kone Vale has a fine reputation for quality produce and will complement perfectly the high-quality range of products with which Direct Meats is synonymous in the demanding catering industry.
"It is our intention to build on Kone's success and develop a more comprehensive range of exciting products."
