Image issues

"In recent years, I have produced regular price lists and have found them invaluable in responding to requests from customers for information on our products. What started as a modest effort has grown into quite an industry, developing alongside my ability with Corel Draw. However, as I began introducing more images, including some food photography, it quickly became apparent that my shots were a very poor substitute for professionally produced images.

This has become a soapbox issue of mine - access to the vast library of professionally taken images that feature in the endless stream of leaflets and posters delivered to my shop each year by well-intentioned promotion bodies. My frustration stems from the fact that we independent retailers do not have the choice of using either the standard poster and recipe leaflet pack, or a CD with the images and graphics that we can use in our own marketing.

It may well be that the demand for this option is small. Copyright issues would almost certainly have to be addressed. However, it must be a more valuable use of a considerable investment to have the images available for long-term access, rather than the few months of a seasonal promotion, and then to lose them for ever.

I am suggesting a CD option be made available. We need more access to these promotional campaigns to continue our battle for market share."
