PLEASANT SURPRISE

 - Published:  21 July, 2006

FROM David Lishman, Lishman's of Ilkley.

Having not renewed my subscription to MTJ some months ago, I was very pleasantly surprised to receive an issue of the new look Journal. It appears to be a well structured paper that has for more relevance to the retail industry, covering a good range of topics and with comments from people in the trade for whom I have respect for.

Please note that I have now renewed my subscription and look forward to receiving the next editions which I feel are far more worthwhile and beneficial to my business than they have been for some length of time.

SHARP NEW LOOK

FROM Rob Smith, Vion

I just wanted to drop a quick note to see how much I enjoyed the new, relaunched Meat Trades Journal. I really think the new issue, both the fortnightly and the new monthly, MTJ Extra, look great and the content was sharp and relevant. I have been reading MTJ for a number of years now, and think the magazine is now entering a very exciting phase.

MTJ has long been a barometer of the meat industry, and with its bright new look, it reflects the growing level of optimism throughout the trade. I look forward to continuing to receive the magazine for many years to come.

MAJOR MERGER

FROM John Palmer, Suffolk

Just a line to say how much I enjoyed reading the new look Meat Trades Journal. I have taken MTJ for 40 years, as a wide range of topics are always covered. The merging of MTJ and Meat & Poultry News - and the addition of MTJ Extra once a month with Fred A'Court's involvement - should provide interesting reading for us all.

MUCH-NEEDED VOICE

FROM Terry Starkey, On behalf of AEW Delford Systems

The new, redesigned MTJ looks very good and somewhat more substantial in feel and content than its iconic predecessor.

I'm sure the combined

editorial talents and stature of the UK's two leading meat industry journals will bring improvements in the style, quality and relevance of the magazine's content, making it an important and much needed voice for the industry.

The attractive front cover and bright, new editorial content of MTJ Extra looks good too and butchers can only benefit from its innovative features.

I especially liked the 'Get it Sussed' feature on pages 14 and 15 which give butchers some sound advice on how to promote themselves.

And it's always interesting to read about real experiences, proven ideas and methods.
