EASY SQUEEZY

CONDIMENTS HAVE become a popular addition to the butcher shop deli, according to leading UK deli wholesaler Claire Jones of Deli28 based in Bristol.

Butchers, and other retailers throughout the UK, are now looking to stock a far wider range of products than before. "They are looking towards stocking a more adventurous range of condiments to accompany the meat that they sell. Consumers want something other than the usual sauces and chutneys so butchers are moving away from stocking basic brands."

And apparently, butchers are selling condiments as gifts. "I think it's indicative of the retailers' need to have wider ideas. It's about broadening what they offer."
