 - Published:  11 January, 2007

ABP Newry in Northern Ireland, which had its approval to slaughter Over Thirty Month OTM cattle revoked on 31 July, had the suspension lifted on 9 January.

ABP Newry had its OTM approval suspended after staff at the AFBI Veterinary Science Division laboratory found two BSE samples "that did not seem as fresh as others", according to an FSA report.

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (Dard) said: "ABP Newry successfully demonstrated that procedures in their 'Required Methods of Operation; are being complied with following slaughter of OTM cattle on 9 January."
