Q Guild clay pigeon shoot

North-East members of the Guild of Q Butchers held their annual clay pigeon shoot at Coniston Hall near Skipton.

Top marksman amoung shooters with previous experience was hot shot David Lishman, of Lishmans Butchers, Ilkey, bagging 21 out of 30 clays, while John Green, of Wilsons Butchers, Crossgates, Leeds, won the novices event with 18 clean hits, closely followed by Stockton-on-Tees butcher Martin Blackwell.

In the team competition, a squad led by Yeadon butcher Brian Meays got the better of an outfit headed by another West Yorkshire meat man, Brindon Addy, of Hade Edge, Holmfirth, with an average score of 16.5 to 12.42.

The shoot-out was sponsored by Liverpool-based butchers' suppliers WR Wright & Sons.
