A FOOD distributor is extending its offering to butchers and meat traders by taking on the distribution for Couzin Jacks Biltong Beefsnack

.

Highgrove Food Distribution will offer the Cornish beef dried snack, which is made to an authentic South African recipe, available in three ?avours; Traditional, Peri-Peri and Garlic.

The company said Couzin Jacks is made of Cornish-reared, 100% prime beef. The product combines silver-side joints of beef with a 'secret' marinade of herbs and spices to produce a cured snack product.

It is said to be free from arti?cial colourings, high in protein, has only 3% fat (saturated) and is gluten, lactose, GM and nut free. In addition, the product draws on the experiences of the Cornish miners, known as 'Couzin Jacks' who more than a 100 years ago, sought fortune in the mining ?elds of South Africa and were likely to have been introduced to 'Biltong' in its original format.

Keith Collins, managing director of Wiltshire-based Highgrove Food Distribution, said: "We are constantly on the look out for new products that will extend our non-dairy range. We already distribute our own goose fat year-round to a wide network of butchers, many of whom have asked us to supply more niche products. Couzin Jacks is another example, where innovation can help British farming and drive sales."
