New brand cooks up a treat
A NEW Scottish brand of high quality cooked meats called Tarbert Fyne Foods has been launched by Browns Food Group
.
Sourced from Scottish beef and pork, and currently sold only in Scotland, all the meats are traditionally prepared. Browns Food Group is a manufacturer of cooked meats, based in Kirkconnel, Dufriesshire. In 1885, the Brown's Family opened a small Butcher's shop in Biggar in the Scottish Borders, curing all their own bacon and distributing their products by horse and cart throughout Lanarkshire.
After a successful start, two further traditional 'factory' units were opened to satisfy growing regional demand. The company has grown substantially since then, and is now keen to expand and improve its cooked meat production for the further processing sector and food service companies.
The group now produces a whole range of chilled and frozen foods, as well as pre-sliced cooked meats, smoked salmon and convenience foods.
