Record 280 entires at HCC's awards for butchers
A RECORD 280 product entries were submitted by independent butchers at the heats of this year's north Wales Hybu Cig Cymru / Meat Promotion Wales (HCC) annual awards for butchers.
The awards for Innovation and Excellence in Meat Products were held last week in Llandudno.
Awards presented on the night included 154 gold awards, and several silver and bronze awards. Category winners will be invited to submit their respective product/s for consideration in a HCC-organised Wales Champion title to be held later in the year. Category Winners
Bryn Williams of Wavells, Llanrug, Caernarfon - Traditional pork sausage and supreme sausage champion.
Ricky Lloyd, Welshpool, Powys - Speciality pork sausage (pork and leek and chilli sausage), beef burgers, and BBQ product (beef, lamb or pork) - Greek-style rack of lamb.
Langford's Food Hall, Welshpool, Powys - Speciality beef and lamb sausage - lamb and apricot sausage).
OE Metcalfe, Llanrwst, Conwy - Speciality pie (cold eating) - pork pie.
Vaughan's Family Butchers, Penyffordd, Chester - Speciality pie (hot eating) - Moroccan lamb pie; also category winner for lamb burger.
ET Jones Sons & Daughters, Bodedern, Anglesey - Ready meals - Lamb Noissettes, Cranberry & Orange.
K E Taylor Daughter & Son, Criccieth, Gwynedd - Pork burger.
F R Kennedy & Son, Holywell - Home-cured bacon
Bodidris Beef, Denbigh - Home cured gammon.
