Credit cruncher kit to help butchers

 - Published:  10 February, 2009

EBLEX has designed a new promotional kit to help butchers encourage customers to buy more beef and lamb through difficult trading times.

Available free of charge to the first 1,000 Quality Standard scheme members to apply, the kits include: product stabbers - for use in the cabinet, to promote special offers and cuts; four large posters - to entice customers into the shop and encourage them to ask butchers how they can make more of beef and lamb; and a 'Get More Out Of Your Shopping Budget' - a special booklet for customers packed full of great ideas.

The booklet includes advice on how to make more of a whole host of meat cuts. From traditional 'forgotten' cuts - such as beef shin, brisket and skirt and lamb Barnsley chop, bone-in shoulder and breast - to offal, which offers value for money.

The brochure is also packed full of ideas to encourage customers to ask their butcher how to make more of roasts, steaks, mince, pot-roasts, casseroles and stews.

Retail project manager for EBLEX, Mike Whittemore, said: "We've been overwhelmed with the response from butchers for this kit! We recognise that times are tough for everyone at the moment and we wanted to do something to help butchers keep ahead of the game.

"This kit was designed to encourage customers to think about different cuts and to ask their butcher how they can make the most of them. Make sure you apply for yours before they're all gone."
