Big Debate this week
Industry members will get their chance to grill FSA bosses on MHS charging at 'The Big Debate' later this week.
The debate, which is being held at the Ardencote Manor Hotel, Warwick, on 13 February, will offer delegates the opportunity to discuss the future of the Meat Hygiene Service.
Putting the case for the FSA will be its chief executive Tim Smith. Other speakers for industry will include Stuart Roberts from the British Meat Processors Association and Meurig Raymond, deputy president of the National Farmers' Union. Speakers from other sectors of the industry will also be taking part.
Scottish industry members will get the chance to have their say at a similar debate in Edinburgh next month. The Scottish debate, which will be held at the Edinburgh Hilton Hotel, will also be attended by Tim Smith, as well as key people from MHS and FSA Scotland.
Both debates are taking place as part of the FSA consultation on MHS charging, so all views expressed will help feed into that process.
