Food inflation easing?
Food inflation, which saw meat and fish prices soar, is easing, latest research from Verdict has claimed.
According to the study, food price inflation, for the 12 months to end of December, climbed to 11.9%. Meat and fish alone saw a hike of 17.7%.
"But the good news for consumers is that the pace of food inflation is easing," said Verdict.
Verdict's consulting director Neil Saunders told the BBC this week: "Consumers have felt the pinch of rising food prices and have reacted by shopping around more, using discount supermarkets and buying less."
Consumers have become more price sensitive, he said and were willing to sacrifice convenience for cheaper prices.
