Fire damages Midlands meat plant
Fire has badly damaged a production line at a meat processing plant in the Midlands.
Staff were evacuated under emergency procedures from the TMI plant in Northampton but no injuries were reported.
The plant specialises in cooked bacon and sausage products and according to management production can be transferred to other plants.
Managing director David Abbott explained: "The fire broke out on a recently-commissioned new production line. The company initiated its emergency plan, staff were evacuated and the emergency services were quickly on the scene to take control of the incident. No one was injured.
"Production will continue at existing factories in Northampton and Coventry and, at this point, the company does not anticipate any supply continuity issues."
