Rendering facility acknowledged for high standards
John Pointon and Sons, one of the country's largest rendering facilities, has been awarded the Environment Agency's IPPC A1 permit in recognition of its continuing commitment to high standards.
The IPPC regulations are intended to reduce emissions and waste of specified substances and materials.
Pointon's started the rigorous process of gaining accreditation in August 2004. It involved examination of rendering, combustion and water treatment and associated activities.
The permit will regulate all activities on site together with a number of named future projects including Bio-diesel, composting and green electrical generation.
