A butcher's shop in East Yorkshire has been the subject of a violent ram raid that left the front of the store badly damaged.

Three men in a heavy 4 X 4 smashed their way into Morley's Butchers in Swanland near Hull in the overnight raid. The raiders grabbed the till drawer, containing £120, before fleeing.

Police expressed surprise that ram raid tactics would be used against a butcher's shop. However, the store has been broken into by thieves four times in the last four years.

Police have now arrested three men in connection with the raid and they are being questioned in custody.
