Sugarman joins MTC subsidiary
Industry specialist Ian Sugarman has been snapped up by the Food and Drink Qualifications Awarding Body (FDQ) - a subsidiary company of the Meat Training Council.
Sugurman joins from City & Guilds to take on the role of Quality & Accreditation Manager. His previous jobs include teaching, vocational training, training and development and hands-on experience as a butcher when he worked in the family's farm butchery and delicatessen.
Sugraman said: "I look forward to bringing my experience of working for a large awarding body to FDQ and having the opportunity to be involved in the strategic development of qualifications. It is an exciting time for FDQ as it expands its awards across the whole food and drink industry and I look forward to helping it achieve its objective of increasing the market share for the take-up of Food Manufacture S/NVQs over the next three years."
Meat Training Council (MTC) CEO Bill Jermey said: "Ian joins us with the strong industry background we need for this sector. FDQ has changed considerably over the last year and is offering a much larger range of qualifications, though we remain a small dedicated team so customers can deal direct with us and our response time is quick.
"Training and qualifications are vital to the success of the industry. The whole supply chain is going to have to become leaner and more effective to stay in business, especially in these tough economic times. The training and qualifications we offer can help businesses chose the right way to remain profitable, as well as helping satisfy demanding BRC requirements"
