Faggots back on the menu
A major supermarket chain has launched a new range of traditional British ready meals onto its shelves including Faggots and Mash and Sausage and Mash.
Waitrose said it was reinforcing its commitment to supporting British food and farming with the launch of a the range of quintessentially British dishes including Faggots which is claimed to be gaining popularity due to its credit-munching price and wholesome, hearty credentials.
Waitrose ready meal buyer Laura Keey said: "Faggots and Mash is the perfect comfort food and an ideal meal choice for cold, wintry evenings. It is not only a cost effective way to enjoy high welfare, great quality food but also a means of appreciating the wonderful flavours and textures that are there for the taking."
The new Waitrose range has been created with the aim of emulating home-cooked dishes such as Sausage & Mash is made using meat sourced from Waitrose suppliers. The range is said to enable customers to enjoy traditional dishes that would otherwise take a long time to cook, in a matter of minutes. The Waitrose British dishes cost from £2.39.
Keey added: "Designed to take the hassle out of preparing a home-cooked meal, we hope the new range will offer shoppers a quick and easy way to enjoy top quality British food."
