Meat and livestock Outlook Conference

 - Published:  26 November, 2008

The annual meat and livestock Outlook Conference will return to London next year, organised by EBLEX and BPEX.

Speakers at the conference, which will look at the industry's future and challenges, have now been announced and include representatives from Defra, consumer magazine Which? and a food consultancy firm.

Event organiser Stephen Rossides said: "Our meat industry is facing greater and more varied challenges than ever before in a fast-changing world. The range of speakers we have will not only help identify those challenges but also ways of meeting them."

In the morning, Defra chief scientist Bob Watson will speak on climate change, food security and the environment, while Which? chair Professor Robert Pickard will talk on the subject of the diet and nutrition aspects of red meat. Richard Brown, of Gira Consulting, will examine global trends in corporate meat strategies.

"This is an extremely important conference for those in the meat and livestock industry looking for the big picture and the strategic information on which to make sound business decisions about the future," added Rossides.

In the afternoon, break-off sessions will address the market outlook for the pig, cattle and sheep sectors.

The Outlook Conference will be held on 3 February 2009 on Great George Street, Central London.
