A certification body for inspection of food production is to hold two free-of-charge workshops for Scottish businesses that are accredited to British Retail Consortium (BRC) standards.
Scottish Food Quality Certification (SFQC) will hold the workshops for businesses accredited to the BRC Global Food standard to advise on moving from the Issue 4 level of audit to Issue 5. It will also give an overview of the entire certification process led by SFQC and BRC approved training provider Duncan Perry.
SFQC chief executive Tim Bailey said: "We hope that these workshops will help provide BRC businesses with a constructive insight into Issue 5 audits and advise on how to manage them. They will also demonstrate how SFQC is keen to work with existing and potential new partners in the food industry during challenging economic times by providing these free of charge."
The workshops will be held on 2 December at the Edinburgh Office Conference Room, Forth Street, Edinburgh and on 4 December at the Station Hotel, Aberdeen.
SFQC was established in 1995 to meet demand for the provision of independent certification services within the Scottish food, farm and fisheries sector.
It is responsible for certifying and administering Specially Selected Scotch Quality Assurance Schemes such as for cattle, sheep, pigs and auction markets. For more information call SFQC processing schemes manager Anita Feely on 0131 335 6624.
