QMS appoints new projects manager

Peter Beattie, formerly an agricultural advisor for Scottish National Heritage, brings over 20 year's industry experience to QMS, including managing a 500 cow estate in the Scottish Highlands.

QMS Industry Development Manager Andy McGowan said: "Peter brings a wealth of experience to QMS and he joins the team at an important time.

"The Monitor Farm network is now well established throughout Scotland and delivering tangible results to all farmers directly and indirectly involved. A key target over the coming year is to make it easier for those who can't attend the community group meetings to access as much of the information as possible.

"More widely, Peter will also play a central role in changing the outcomes of our academic research projects into practical messages and getting these rapidly out to cattle & sheep farmers."

Beattie added: "I am delighted to take up the role of Technical Projects Manager with QMS. The industry is facing plenty of issues at the moment, not least of which is profitability, and I am looking forward to getting my sleeves rolled up and meeting farmers and processors around Scotland in the coming months."
