NFU appoints new chief livestock advisor

John Mercer has taken over from Dylan Morgan as chief livestock advisor for the National Farmers Union.

John Mercer has taken over from Dylan Morgan as chief livestock advisor for the National Farmers Union (NFU).

Before taking on the role two weeks ago, Mercer spent six months as senior farm policy advisor at NFU Stonleigh. Before that, he spent four years as farm policy advisor for NFU Cymru, covering south-east Wales.

Mercer originally hails from West Wales, where his parents still have a sheep farm. In addition to his strong farming background, Mercer has also had experience working for the Welsh Assembly Government and as an Animal Health Officer for Animal Health.
