BDCI a success

The great and the good of the UK meat industry were out in force on Friday and helped to raise nearly £90,000 for charity.

The annual Butchers' and Drovers' Charitable Institute's Festival Dinner, saw almost 1,000 people from across the spectrum of the meat industry come together for the annual fundraising event.

Taking place back at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London, the event was organised by this year's Festival Chairman, Graham Roach.

He said it had been a mammoth task: ""But all the hard work has been worth it, especially when we remember what this evening is for - to raise money to help our colleagues in the meat industry who are having a hard time in one way or another."

More than £89,000 was raised on the night, through a raffle, auction and heads-and-tails game.
