Craig steps down at ANM
|
ANM Group boss Alan Craig has stepped down to pursue “other opportunities”, the company has announced. He will be replaced in the role of chief executive by Patrick Machray OBE, the ANM Group board said. In a statement, the company said Craig had left the business and it recognised the “enormous effort and commitment” he had invested in the organisation.
ANM Group chairman, John McIntosh, said: “We recognise the business, and indeed the industry, is operating in an extremely challenging environment and have appointed Mr Machray in this role to guide us through this demanding period.”
Machray was described as having “a formidable wealth of experience at board level coupled with in-depth commercial and industry knowledge”.
The new chief executive has held a number of high profile senior positions including chief executive of independent chartered accountants and business advisors, Johnston Carmichael, and chairman of Scottish Enterprise Grampian. He will continue to serve as chairman of the Scottish Agricultural College’s finance and general purposes committee.
Mr McIntosh added: “ANM Group is delighted Pat has accepted this role, frankly he is the ideal candidate. The board realises the group has distinct challenges in certain areas of its business. That said, Pat is particularly well qualified to navigate the organisation through demanding times.”
Mr Machray said: “As someone with a long-standing association with ANM Group and indeed the agricultural industry, I am honoured by the board’s support.
“I understand the challenges we face and am fortunate to have an extremely talented group of people whom I have known for a number of years around me in my new role.
“I firmly believe the business has an exceptionally bright future and recognise my main priority will be delivering outstanding service to our customers and members.”
The ANM Group has gone through a number of changes recent months, which has seen new management come in for its meat division, with former Vion director Jim Jaffray taking over as managing director, replacing David Fleetwood.
The group was also forced to announce the closure of it’s Yorkshire Premier Meat plant in Sheffield, earlier this month, citing challenging market conditions.
