Bpex announces new head of marketing
Bpex has announced a new head of marketing who will take up the position in April.
Kirsty Walker is joining Bpex from Arthritis Research UK, where she was policy, communications and brand director. She will take on the role from Chris Lamb who is retiring at the end of February.
Walker, who has undertaken post-graduate research on the BSE crisis, said: “I am really looking forward to working with Bpex. I know it is going to be both interesting and challenging with all that is going on in the pig industry at present.
“My aim is to prick the conscience of consumers when they are shopping, because I don’t believe they give enough thought to what they are buying when they pick up some pork.”
Bpex director Mick Sloyan said: “Kirsty will be a valuable addition to the team and she brings with her experience that will be of benefit to Bpex and the wider industry.”
Chris Lamb has worked in the food industry for the majority of his career, covering brands such as Oxo, Fray Bentos and Bernard Matthews. He joined the then Meat & Livestock Commission (MLC) in 1992 and was behind the creation and launch of the Quality Standard mark in 1999, as well as working on consumer and industry projects, such as the beef recovery programnme post-BSE.
