Princes report sales growth

The company employs more than 4,500 people and includes food and drinks brands Flora, Shippam sandwich spread and certain Branston and Batchelors products under licence.   

Ken Critchley, Princes managing director, said: “We are pleased with our progress during the last financial year and have continued to invest in the development of our UK and continental European operations in the current fiscal year. We have a long-term strategy to expand our group both in the UK and into new international markets by investing in our supply chain through acquisitions and strategic partnerships. This will help us to continue to offer our customers quality products and services with the reassurance of security of supply.”

In September, the company extended its canned meat range by launching three new products - premium cured ham, chicken breast and turkey roll. In December it started to roll out new packaging for its distinctive pear shaped 325g packs of cured ham, lean deli ham, and 454g of standard and premium cured ham, abandoning the traditional key opening in favour of an aluminium can with key pull. This it said came after extensive consumer testing, and was designed to make it quicker and more convenient while remaining fully recyclable.
