Eville & Jones wins meat inspection tender

 - Published:  21 December, 2011

A veterinary supply business is celebrating after landing new business following a government re-tendering exercise.

Eville & Jones, the Leeds-based company that provides veterinarians to supervise official controls in approved fresh meat premises, took part in the competitive tendering process, which started in August 2011.

The company has now announced it has been confirmed as the sole service provider across England will increase their percentage of the UK meat-supervision work from 40% to 80%, covering 762 of the UK’s 948 approved fresh meat premises.

Dr Jason Aldiss, managing director, said: “I am very pleased with the success of our team in being recognised as a leading provider of Official Veterinary Services to the Food Standards Agency.

“Every day, all day, veterinarians are in every slaughterhouse doing a difficult job protecting public health and animal welfare. We feel hugely privileged to be given this opportunity to play such a part in the government’s consumer protective programme within the meat industry: I am most proud of our team and the important work we do.”
