Red Tractor lamb on menu at Pakistan charity event

The Pakistan Recovery Fund Gala Dinner took place at the Natural History Museum, London last Thursday (8-December-2011). The fund was set up by Pince Charles in response to the continued suffering of people in Pakistan as a result of extensive flooding. It has been convened by the British Asian Trust, one of HRH The Prince of Wales’ charities.

The fund selects a number of progressive international charities to deliver its ojectives of building homes, re-establishing education, reviving livelihoods and restoring human health.

Speaking at the event, HRH highlighted the urgent needs of the forgotten victims giving a timely reminder of the desperate ongoing situation on the ground. He expressed his heartfelt thanks to everyone in joining with him to support the cause.

EQL, a family-based lamb abattoir based in Shropshire, UK, hosted a table at the dinner including guests from BMPA and AIMS. Rizvan Khalid. executive director at EQL. said: “HRH is doing a great job in highlighting the recurring flood disasters in Pakistan. His fund provides transparency and accountability to ensure the funds go to where they are needed the most – the helpless destitute victims at the bottom of society.

“It’s astonishing that the flooded regions are greater than the size of England! This is a timely reminder during the excesses of the festive season of how much we have to be thankful for. We are here to gratefully support the Prince and hope to encourage others to follow suit.”
